best weight loss program 2023
I'm going to lose 15 pounds
I want to run a marathon
Stop smoking
All the foregoing
none of the above
The correct answer is (5) - none of the above answers. The first three are wishes, not goals. However, you're not alone if you answered incorrectly, as research has shown that less than 1% of the population actually understands how to set a goal effectively. This is why so many New Year's resolutions are broken and why so many people try not to achieve the same goal. The desire to better ourselves is genuine, but the process we follow while pursuing that desire is flawed.
Here are five steps to set an effective goal:
Your goal MUST be meaningful to YOU
This means you must be the person creating it - not your spouse or employer. Make sure the things you invest your time and energy into are things you are passionate about. When you achieve this, you will be excited about it.
Make your goals specific (quantifiable) and measurable (end-date)
I will lose 15 pounds by October 31, 2004 is a goal because you will know at the end of the period if you have reached it or not. A lot of people don't give themselves an end date because they're afraid of failure. In addition, not having an end date makes it possible to procrastinate.
Make sure your lenses are the right size
i need to lose weight Goals should push you to stretch and grow, but shouldn't be unrealistic. For example, earning a million dollars your freshman year out of college was done, but for the most part, that's unrealistic. On the other hand, if your goal is to run a mile in 6:59 versus 7 minutes, you haven't pushed yourself hard enough. Also, focus on a few achievable tasks at a time and move forward as you accomplish them.
An effective goal is always written down
best weight loss plan This is extremely helpful and essential as there will be times when your goals will make you feel uncomfortable and you may lose sight of them. When this happens, you need to write them down to stay on track and accountable. Posting your goals on the refrigerator, bulletin board, or in your planner ensures that you will be reminded of them daily.
Review them weekly
You need to revise your goal in order to stay on track. Examining them leads you to engage in their achievement.
The positive results of achieving any goal are unforgettable. An individual's failure to succeed is rarely due to incompetence. Rather, it's because they simply don't know the process of success. Follow these guidelines, be patient, and celebrate your future success.
